The evil witch Pūtanā, who had previously killed many babies came in the disguise of a beautiful woman to kill baby Kṛṣṇa. She looked so nice and unassuming that even Krishna’s mother Yaśodā did not perceive any danger and allowed Pūtanā to enter her child’s nursery and take Him on the lap.

Pūtanā had smeared a deadly poison on her breasts, intending to kill baby Kṛṣṇa by nursing Him. However, when she actually saw Kṛṣṇa, some doubts entered her mind, as she could perceive that this was not an ordinary baby and that He was extraordinarily powerful. To assure her, Lord Kṛṣṇa played cute and innocent and even closed His eyes as if afraid. However, He proved to be deadly to Pūtanā, sucking out her life airs along with the poison and thus stopping her nefarious activities. After her death Pūtanā attained eternal bliss as one of Krishna’s mothers in the spiritual kingdom.

I have tried to capture here the mood of Putana’s doubt and insecurity and the perfect innocence that Lord Krishna displayed.
