18 Jun Let’s Travel the Vedic Universe!
Some of our studio team have recently taken to learning 3d landscape creation in more depth. And what could be a better use of such skills than presenting scenes we normally have no experience of? The vast Vedic universe has many wonderful places that people of this earth could access in earlier ages, but currently cannot, due to a degradation of consciousness. However, we still have access to the descriptions of such places in the Purānas and Itihāsas, such as the Rāmāyaṇa and the Mahābhārata.
Let’s start with Jambūdvīpa! It is the central island of the Bhū-maṇḍala, containing 9 Varṣas (tracts of land), separated by huge mountain ranges. We currently only have experience of Bhārata-khaṇḍa, which is a 1/9th part of Bhārata-varṣa, which is again only 1/9th of Jambūdvīpa.
Far beyond our current reach lie Hemakūṭa (the gold-peaked) mountains. They separate Kiṁpuruṣa-varṣa from Hari-varṣa in the southern part of Jambūdvīpa. Most of the parts of Jambūdvīpa and their great mountains are all heavens on earth, where life is much longer and more enjoyable. But most importantly, their inhabitants are all very pious and firmly dedicated to the worship of the Supreme Lord in His various incarnations.
To be continued with more landscapes from the Vedic Universe…
